I am not a lawyer, but I think you might be confusing Licensing Terms and issues with Support Terms and issues. Just because Microsoft decides to no longer sell or support a product does not affect the licensing terms of your current installations. From the document:"Microsoft Support Lifecycle Policy FAQ" < http://support.microsoft.com/gp/lifepolicy >... is found the following item:-------------------------------20. How long can I legally use Microsoft software after I have licensed it? Is the term of my software license affected by the Support Lifecycle policy? The Support Lifecycle policy has no effect on how long you can use a product. The Support Lifecycle policy outlines how long Microsoft will provide technical support for products.-------------------------------HTH, JW

Windows XP still supported but the support for SP1 ,SP2 and no Service Pack ended. If you have SP3 , you still have support. In the otherhand using ended support OS is NOT recommended as long as no update will provided and your PC will be at risk.
